Whitburn host open rehearsal spotlight

The Whitburn Band will be hosting a pre-Perth showcase of test piece treats ahead of their Scottish Championship challenge.

The Whitburn Band will host an open rehearsal prior to their appearance at the Scottish Championship in Perth this weekend.

The evening will also see newly appointed musical adviser Professor Nicholas Childs putting the Whitburn Youth Band through its paces in a short programme, before handing over to Whitburn Heartlands Band, conducted by Robert Fraser, who will perform the Fourth Section set work, ‘An English Pastorale’.

Torchbearer

Welcome guests Langholm Town Band, which will perform the Third Section work, ‘Evolution — Five States of Change’ led by conductor and Whitburn euphonium player Chris Shanks, before the evening will be rounded off with Professor Childs leading Whitburn as the band showcases its bid to claim its third area title in five years on Peter Graham’s ‘The Torchbearer’.

Entry is free, with a starting time of 7.30pm prompt on Friday the 13th at Brucefield Church, East Main Street, Whitburn. EH47 0RD.
