Sterling adds silver to Brighouse & District Lions

Sterling Musical Instruments have become the latest high profile sponsors of the popular Brighouse & District Lions festival weekend.

Brighouse & District Lions have informed 4BR that Sterling Musical Instruments has joined the list of high profile sponsors who will support the popular event

The festival of brass band music making takes place in the iconic West Yorkshire town over the weekend of July 3rd to 5th, when 27 bands will take part in various events and competition

Welcome visitors

Welcome visitors this year are Lake Wobegon® Brass Band from Minnesota, USA. They will headline the Gala Concert and also compete in the March & Hymn Tune Contest against 26 UK bands on the Sunday.

The adjudicators this year are ABBA members Gordon Higginbottom and David Hirst, with David Ashworth awarding the many outside prizes.

New awards

There will be two new awards presented: The 'Geoff Whitham Memorial Trophy' will be presented by Joyce Skidmore to the best euphonium in the contest, with Patricia Fuller donating a trophy in memory of the late George Hinchcliffe, a supporter of the festival over many years.
