Fresh from their encouraging top six finish at this year's UniBrass Championship, the University of Nottingham Brass Band has appointed a new management team in time for the start of the 2015/2016 academic year.

Members of the band recently held their AGM where they appointed Cath Webb as Band Manager. Cath will now set about attracting new players and organising concerts and social events ahead of the new academic year.

She will be joined by Andrew Claydon, who will become Contest Manager. He will now coordinate the logistics behind the band's appearances at the forthcoming Bolsover Festival of Brass and 2016 UniBrass Championships.

Conducting team

With the departures of conductors Chris Blunt and Adam Edwards, the new conducting team will be Matthew Husbands and Kieren Williams.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Engineering student and tuba player Matt hails from Northamptonshire. He is an active member of the National Methodist Youth Brass Band and brings experience of playing at all levels of banding.

Student social worker Kieren Williams is a former Band Manager and player at Thoresby Colliery Band and is currently solo horn at Foresters Brass 2000. This combination of experience and enthusiasm will contribute towards the continuing progress we have made over the past few years.
