Besses to boost Liverpool's big guns

Players from Besses o' th' Barn Band will be added to the ranks of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra to make sure their 175th birthday celebrations go off with a bang.

Besses o' th' Barn Band has announced that they have been asked to support the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra with their 175th anniversary celebrations later this year.

Three concerts

In September, the orchestra will present three concerts, directed by Chief Conductor Vasily Petrenko of popular classical music in association with Classic FM's Hall of Fame programme.

Adding to the ranks

The concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London and at the RLPO's own Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool later this month, will see players from Besses augment the RLPO's renowned brass section to raise the roof in performances of the 'Triumphal Grand March' from Verdi's 'Aida' and Tchaikovsky's '1812 Overture'.
