Dutch Open looks towards Britain

The Dutch Open Championship is hoping it can attract bands form far and wide for their contest in De Lawei Drachten this year.

The organisers of the 2016 Dutch Open Championship have informed 4BR that they would like to invite as many non-Dutch bands to compete at their popular event this year.

Contest invites

The contest will take place on June 11th in De Lawei Drachten and registration is still open for bands who wish to make the trip and enjoy a great contest, with invites sought from non-Dutch bands wishing to enter in the Championship, First and Second Section categories.

In the past American, Belgian, English, French, German, Norwegian and Welsh bands have made the trip, whilst the 2016 contenders in the Championship Section already include reigning champion Brass Band Rotterdam Rijnmond and 2015 Dutch European Championship representative De Bazuin Oenkerk.

Welcome visitors

They will be joined by Amsterdam Brass, Brass Band de Wâldsang, Van der Kreeke Brass Band Limburg and welcome visitors, the Austrian Brass Band.

In the First and Second Sections, Dutch National Champions Brass Band Pro Rege Heerenveen and Brass Band Schoonhoven B respectively will compete alongside defending First Section Dutch Open champion Oefening en Uitspanning and 2015 Second Section winner Euphonia Wolvega.

Each band will perform a 30 minute programme.

CLEETHORPES BAND CIO

April 3 • We have vacancies for a trombone player and a bass player. Cleethorpes Band rehearse near the seafront on Thursday and Sunday evenings. Placed 3rd in the NOE 4th section. Other players are always welcome as we may be able to switch positions around
