Bolsover open for bands wanting to make a worldwide mark

The Bolsover Festival of Brass will be broadcast all over the world once more this October — so make sure your band is part of it.

Entries are now sought for the 2016 Bolsover Festival of Brass. The event, which will once again be beamed around the banding world, will be staged at the excellent facilities provided by the Heritage High School Clowne on Sunday the 2nd October.

ISB Concert

The format of the event will be slightly changed, with the popular Festival of Brass commencing with a concert by the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army at Heritage High School on Saturday 24th September.

Tickets are £12 with £10 concessions available from Clowne Contact Centre or from Bolsover District Council ticket hotline on 01246 242424.

Contest day

The popular Festival of Brass Entertainment Contests will be on Sunday 2nd October with an entertaining live on-line broadcast giving people around the globe the chance to enjoy the action in the First and Championship Sections as well as live reports and updates from the other sections.

To add to the welcoming atmosphere thee will once again be a big multi-media screen in the bar area and the interviews led by 4BR Editor Iwan Fox will be projected into the Main Hall between performances.

World-wide

The on-line broadcast will be funded through 'First Art', a project funded through the Arts Council England 'Creative People and Places Fund'. First Art is working in collaboration with Bolsover District Council to offer arts to a wider audience.

Carole Hirst of Bolsover District Council told 4BR: "We are looking to work with Care Homes around the district this year to set up screens to enable elderly residents to take part in the Festival of Brass experience.

The Arts Council England has been thrilled with the response from our first year and have said they would like to support the 2016 in any way they can."
