New trio at Derwent Brass

A new trio of signings join the Derwent Brass ranks.

Derwent Brass

Derwent Brass has announced the signing of a trio of new players, with the Midlands Championship ensemble welcoming Ben Armstrong as principal EEb Tuba, Stephen Hargreaves on percussion and Chris Clayton on bass trombone

Signings

Ben comes from local rivals Newstead Brass, whilst Stephen is well-respected freelance percussionist who joined in time for their performance at the Regional Championship in Bedworth.

Meanwhile, Chris Clayton makes a welcome return to the band after enjoying a successful tenure at Ibstock Brick Brass. He was a key member of Derwent Brass in its very early years back in the 1990s.

Dedicated players

MD Keith Leonard told 4BR: "I'm delighted with the recent player additions and proud that we rarely have an empty seat for long. Ben is a very fine player and blends in well, Steve is going to be a great asset and it's great to see Chris back in the band room.

Many people still don't realise that we only rehearse once a week, so getting dedicated players committed to what we do is vital to our ongoing success."
