Ilkeston opt for a trip on the Wildie side

Ilkeston Band appoint Mark Wildie as their new Musical Director.

Ilkeston Brass has announced the appointment of Mark Wildie B(Mus), LTCL LRAM ARCM as their new Musical Director with Immediate effect.

The experienced musician started playing in the early 1980s under the likes of inspirational Bandmaster Brian Parkinson at Wakefield Salvation Army Citadel. He studied music at college on a course ran by Major Peter Parkes and he later completed his degree at Leeds College of Music.

He also joined Wakefield Metropolitan as a player — going on to enjoy National and regional honours.A staunch Salvationist, Mark continues to help at the Wakefield Corps.

I'm looking forward to working with Ilkeston. The enthusiasm was in abundance at the audition and I'm excited about the prospect of leading this famous bandMark Wildie

Success

As a conductor has enjoyed considerable success with Garforth, Haworth and in more recent times Farnworth & Walkden amongst others.

He told 4BR: "I'm looking forward to working with Ilkeston. The enthusiasm was in abundance at the audition and I'm excited about the prospect of leading this famous band. I'm really looking forward to rolling my sleeves up and help Ilkeston improve on both contest and concert stages."
