Hitchin looking for past members for 150th bash

The Hitchin Band is looking to connect with as many past members as possible for their forthcoming 150th anniversary celebrations.

Hitchin

The Hitchin Band has sent out a call around the banding world to invite past players to a special re-union event as part of the band's 150th anniversary celebrations on 4th June.

The band would like to hear from anybody that has previously played with them and would also be interested in seeking any photographs or memorabilia. The event will take place at Hitchin Town Football Club.

Response

Band Secretary, Mike Thorn told 4BR: "We have been really pleased with the response so far. There will be lots of familiar faces, some that we know well and some that we haven't seen for many years.

We recently met a former bandmaster and conductor who conducted the band some 50 years ago. Despite the numbers that have been getting in touch, I'm sure that there are more players out there who we haven't been able to contact, and we would love to hear from them."

The evening will start with a performance by the Hitchin Youth Band.

After this, guests will be able to join in with current band members to play through some popular pieces. And there will be a range of activities to suit all ages, as well as a buffet and a bar.
