Scottish bands ready for Northern challenge

Eight bands will battle for the Northern Counties BBA Entertainment title this weekend in Loch Leven.

The 2016 Northern Counties Brass Band Association Open Contest will be held this Saturday, 28th May, at Loch Leven Community Campus in Kinross.

Eight bands from across Scotland will battle head to head in Perthshire, in a bid to carry off the title of Northern Counties Champion Band.

20 minute programmes

Each band will be hoping to impress adjudicators John Boax and David Frame with their 20-minute entertainment programme and, with prizes on offer for 'Best Band' in each section, as well as for 'Best Percussion', 'Best Soloist' and 'Most Entertaining Programme', there should be plenty to play for across the board.

Spectator admission for an enjoyable and varied afternoon's music making is £5 (£3 concessions). Doors open at 11.30am with the first band taking the stage at midday.

Longridge Band

July 21 • Due to ill health, Longridge Band invite applications for a SOLO HORN. We are a friendly, committed band, who enjoy a good balance of concerts and contests throughout the year. We rehearse 10 minutes from Jct 31A of the M6, on Wednesday and Friday evening


NORTH LAKES BRASS

July 20 • North Lakes Brass are seeking a CONDUCTOR with the drive to take our friendly band into the 2nd section. . We are different from most contesting bands as we rehearse just once a week (Wed), have 2 full band concerts & 4-5 contests per year.


Rushden Town Band

July 18 • Second Trombone vacancy. A friendly Midlands 1st Section Band, Rushden are looking for a Second Trombone player to come and join us. Great repertoire and concerts plus contests twice per year. Every other year, the band goes on tour.
