Easington restore tuba foundations

A new set of Yamaha Neo tubas from Band Supplies gives Easington Colliery a musical foundation to build on for the future.

Easington tubas

Easington Colliery Band recently took delivery of four brand new Yamaha Neo tubas to replace their existing instruments which were over 20 years old and in need of change.

Having worked hard to secure grants and use existing funds alongside the added help of funding coming from a generous sponsor in Michael Watt of Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, the instruments were ordered through Band Supplies Ltd.

Thanks

Spokesperson and principal BBb player, Richard Mason told 4BR that the band was absolutely delighted with their new purchases.

"The tubas are a pleasure to play and I would like to thank the organisations such as the North East Miner's Social Welfare Trust Fund who helped fund the purchase and particularly Michael Watt our sponsor, as well as the service provided by Band Supplies."

New projects

4BR was also informed that the band's next project was to replace the horns and baritones followed by a full set of new cornets by 2017.

Band Chairman, Jonathan Collins told 4BR: "We are working extremely hard on securing funding for more instruments as well as refurbishing the band hall with a possibility of making it available in the future to other village organisations."
