Newstead look to boost numbers for Beckley finale

Newstead Brass is looking to provide Duncan Beckley will a musical finale to remember...

Duncan Beckley

Following the recent announcement that Duncan Beckley will be stepping down from his role as Musical Director of Newstead Brass after a remarkable 27 year leadership tenure, the band has extended an open invitation to all former players to join them in a celebratory final concert with him at the helm.

Ripley Music Festival

Newstead will headline the Ripley Music Festival on the 16th July — a week-long event in which a variety of local performers perform to capacity audiences.

The band will be playing at an open air event in Crossley Park for an hour, at about 8.30pm, followed by a short, 'Last Night of the Proms' programme.

The event finishes with the band accompanying an impressive firework display with the iconic '1812 Overture'.

Spectacular event

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We believe this is a wonderful way for the band to say thank-you to Duncan for all that he has done for Newstead Brass over the last 27 years.

We are sure there will be plenty of former players who will also want to join us for a spectacular event and to say their personal thanks themselves."
