East Yorkshire Motor Services Band moves to new home

One of the leading bands in the north of England looks towards the future at a new home.

Eyms Band

East Yorkshire Motor Services Band has moved to new rehearsal facilities.

Although there is still a little work to still do at the former Barton Windows premises in Barton to fully complete the conversion to a bespoke facility for one of the North East's top Championship bands, it has already boats a fine rehearsal area, library and amenities.

Most important conversion

One of the most important conversions however has been with the name, as band spokesperson Simon Blow told 4BR: "We are proud that we are to call our new rehearsal facility 'The Maurice Metcalfe Memorial Band Room' after one of our founders and leading lights who died in 2008."

Unveiling

The band is now looking at having a small get together of friends who have supported the band over the years on Sunday 24th July (6.30pm) where Sarah Metcalfe (Maurice's daughter) will unveil a commemorative sign in between a rehearsal break for the band — something her father would have been delighted with.
