Pennine Brass brings Rose to musical bloom

The iconic ballad The Rose has now been published by Pennine Music.

Pennine Brass
Pennine Brass has published the iconic ballad 'The Rose'.

Euphonium soloists can now perform one of the all time classic ballads thanks to Pennine Music.

The Rose

'The Rose' has been entertaining audiences around the globe since being penned in 1977.

Although it didn't reach world-wide success immediately, it went on to become a worldwide hit by artist Bette Midler when it was in the film of the same name. Songwriter, Amanda McBroom later recalled that she wrote the piece in just 45 minutes.

The work has now been arranged by Rob Westacott as a superb euphonium solo with lower brass accompaniment and is a great new addition to any soloist's repertoire.

The work is not technically demanding and the lyrical tone of the piece is one that will allow players of all ages to shine.

Staff of Faith

Also recently released is a hymn tune setting of the Swiss traditional melody, 'Staff of Faith', sung to the words 'My Faith it is an Oaken Staff'. This work by Gavin Somerset uses the full colours of the brass band and allows several instrumentalists the chance to shine in this warm and entertaining work.
