Bradwell Silver Band will look forward to the New Year after gaining a new principal cornet for Christmas.

Bradwell Silver Band has gained an early Christmas present with the news of the signing of principal cornet player David Wilson from Olney Brass.

David will take up his new role from 1st January, whilst current incumbent Julia Hollis takes over from Adam Chappell on soprano with Adam becoming 'bumper-up'.

Welcome back

A spokesperson told 4BR: "David (Tug) is an extremely experienced musician having started his playing career with us. He spent six years with The Band of the Blues and Royals, Household Cavalry and participated in prestigious events such as Trooping the Colour. All of the Wilson family play brass instruments and all but one are current members of the band."

Meanwhile, David told 4BR: "I'm looking forward to re-joining the band and once again playing for my own local community being a Brad'll boy at heart. It will be great to work with Brian again and form musical partnerships with the new members of the band."

Looking forward

Musical Director Brian Keech added: "We all thank Julia for her commitment and hard work and Adam is looking forward to the new challenge and taking advantage of David's experience to further develop his own talents as a solo cornet player.

David has been a member of our band or a guest player for over 40 years, so we are therefore so pleased to welcome him back as principal cornet as we look forward to the Area contest in Stevenage in March."
