Hammonds Saltaire will be led by a new euphonium duo in 2017.

Hammonds
There will be a new euph duo at Hammonds for the start of the new season.

Hammonds Saltaire has announced the appointment of Ashley Higgins as their new solo euphonium.

Promotion

Ashley has been with the Yorkshire band for nearly four years, having joined on second euphonium from Meltham & Meltham Mills whilst studying at Huddersfield University. During this time he was the featured soloist with the University Band at the Unibrass contest.

Joining Ashley on second euphonium is David Smith from Hade Edge. He is also a former graduate of Huddersfield University where he studied under David Thornton.

Thanks

A band spokesperson said: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank Matthew Allsop for his work with us. Matthew left the band just before Christmas after eight years on solo euphonium due to increased commitments at work.

He leaves with our thanks and also congratulations on his recent marriage to Jo at the end of December."
