Hardraw Scar hoping for a flood of entries

The famous Hardraw Scar contest is hoping to gain another full filed of bands wishing to perform at the iconic outdoor venue.

  The famous Hardraw Scar contest always attracts great crowds to her the band perform.

Entries are now being sought for the iconic Hardraw Scar Brass Band Festival which will take place on Sunday 10th of September.

The contest which is organised by the Yorkshire & Humberside Brass Band Association takes place in the open air bandstand in the gorge beneath the famous Hardraw Force waterfall near Hawes in Wensleydale. The contest was first held 136 years ago and attracts bands from all parts of the banding globe.

Section changes

For the 2017 event the organisers have made some changes to the sections following feedback from bands. Section B now includes Third and Fourth Section as well as ungraded bands, while Section A is now open Championship, First and Second Section contenders.

It is hoped that this will give a more balanced contest experience for all those who wish to attend. A new trophy will be awarded to the 'Best Fourth Section Band competing in Section B.

Due to the popularity of the contest, as in recent years, a two stage entry process applies which involves the return of the entry form by the 14th of March4BR

If sections are oversubscribed then places will be allocated by a draw.

Rushden Town Band

July 18 • Second Trombone vacancy. A friendly Midlands 1st Section Band, Rushden are looking for a Second Trombone player to come and join us. Great repertoire and concerts plus contests twice per year. Every other year, the band goes on tour.

July 18 • Bedford Town Band have vacancies for 1st trombone, 1st horn, EEb and BBb bass. We have several concerts and Wychavon contest in the Autumn. In the last few years the band won the Butlins 2nd section , been promoted to 1st section then 3rd at Wychavon
