Report & Result: 2017 WMBBA Solo, Duet & Quartet

There was plenty of great competitive music making on show from players young and old in the West Midlands last weekend.

The West Midlands Brass Bands Association recently held their Solo, Duet & Quartet Contest at Studley High School.

Entries were up on last year with the contest proving to be a fine success with entries coming from a wide area, from Brighouse, Newhall and Llangollen to local bands Bilton, Shirley, Avonbank, Arrow Valley and Shipston.

Brilliant day

Adjudicators Paul White and Warren Bellshaw stated that they were very impressed with the standard of performances right from the youngest competitors.

Meanwhile, Association Chairman Barbara Dunscombe summed up the feelings of everyone when she commented. "What a brilliant day. I enjoyed every minute and particularly the youngsters early in the day."

After such a successful day the date was announced for next year's competition as Sunday May 6th.
