VBS Poynton Band has made a full time link with Stig Maersk following a great start to their working partnership.

VBS Poynton Band has announced that Stig Maersk has taken over full time conducting responsibilities with the North West band following a successful recent working partnership.

Highest finish

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We both enjoyed working together and were keen for it to continue in a more permanent capacity, especially as Stig helped us achieve our highest place finish at the Area contest since 1994.

It is understood that the Danish born conductor will continue in his primary role as MD for the East Yorkshire Motor Services Band.

We are very excited to be working with Stig and are looking forward to developing under his leadership. He was most definitely the right person to take us forwardBand Chairman, Gary White

It was also announced that the band had welcomed three new signings; Ian Moffet on cornet after spells at Marple and Tintwistle, Jess Tredrea on flugel following a successful conducting spell at Lindley Band and student Will Jeyes on solo cornet.
