Yorkshire Imperial Urquhart Travel has announced the appointment of Martin Heartfield as their new Director of Music.

It is understood that the band has been actively searching for a conductor to work alongside Associate Conductor Russell Gray and had wanted to take tome to ensure they appointed the right person.

Right fit

Band Chairman Bob Morton told 4BR: "Having waited and seen many potential candidates we were rewarded for our patience with a musician who we feel will be exactly the 'right fit', which was so important in our drive to honour our illustrious history.

Martin's ability, drive, determination and enthusiasm will push the band back to where we feel we belong. There was a real buzz around the stand as looked forward to Martin's first rehearsal as Imps new 'man in the middle."
