The Old Silkstone Band has announced the resignation of Musical Director Sam Fisher.

Flying start

Sam started to lead the band in 2014 and got off to flying start with second place at the Second Section Yorkshire Regional Championships.

The band has since made it back to back National Finals appearances and in 2017 gained promotion to the First Section. It has also enjoyed success at several entertainment contests as well as being in great demand on the concert scene."

Sam told 4BR: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Old Silkstone and wish to thank the players for their support and hard work. I feel the time has come to seek a new challenge and wish the band well for the future".

Great three years

Band Chairman Ian Askey added: "We all wish Sam well in his new endeavours. His time with us has been both enjoyable and successful with some excellent contest results and many memorable concerts. It's been a great three years."

The band are already busy preparing for 2018 with a CD recording and a trip to Ireland already on the cards. It hopes to announce details of who will lead its musical direction shortly.
