Aldbourne keep dry with their musical focus

Aldbourne Band's final 'Pond Concert' proved to be a splendidly dry and wry occasion.

Aldbourne Band closed their Pond Concert series in the dry...

Despite the final event in Aldbourne Band's annual 'Pond Concert' season having to be held in the local Parish church due to the poor weather, it still provided a wonderful climax to the hugely popular summer series.

Local celebration

It followed a church service celebrating local community life as well as marking the end of a successful Carnival week, with the band once again showing that they are an integral part of cultural activity in the area.

There was plenty of great music making and family fun on show too — from the opening 'Muppet Show Theme' that replaced the National Anthem, to Brahms' 'Academic Festival Overture'.

Highlights

Other highlights included the cornet solo 'Pandora' played by Shaun Mundy, the baritone solo 'Springtime' featuring Andy Tilley and an arrangement by MD David Johnson of Andrew Lloyd-Webber themes. The concert ended with a rousing rendition of Paul Lovatt-Cooper's 'Fire in the Blood'.

The evening also included a presentation to the long serving librarian, Alan Watson, who is stepping down from the role after 13 years service.
