The Messiah is making an appearance this weekend in London — and if you go along on Saturday night you can help Handel's great oratorio raise funds for the DKMS Blood Cancer Charity cause too.

Handel and the band

You can round off the National Finals day in the most splendid musical fashion, by taking a quick cab ride from the Royal Albert Hall to St Stephen's Church on Gloucester Road to catch a the performance of Handel's 'Messiah' with a special brass band accompaniment.

It not only features the Brandenburg Festival Chorus and Brandenburg Brass Band under the direction of conductor Robert Porter, but it is also supporting the DKMS Blood Cancer Charity, with 50% of the ticket sales going to help fund their ongoing work.

The idea for the event came from the respected trumpet player Paul Archibald, with help from a number of people such as Susan White and concert promoter Bob Porter, who is the Artistic Director of the Brandenburg Sinfonia and Head of Wind & Brass at the Junior Guildhall

Brass band accompaniment

The Brandenburg Brass Band will be formed of a collection of London professional brass players as well as bandsmen from all over the country, with the link made even more poignant by the support the charity gives to trombone player Stephen Sykes.

The performance will also be using the famous Denis Wright arrangement on the night.

The evening is also supporting the DKMS Blood Cancer Charity, with 50% of the ticket sales going to help fund their ongoing work4BR
