NASUWT Concert Band has announced the appointment of Andrew Hall (centre) as their new Musical Director.

He comes to the North of England outfit with a CV full of playing and conducting experience — playing with the likes of Durham Constabulary as a youngster to a return to top flight banding in 2017 as solo horn with Reg Vardy.

He has also successfully conducted a number of bands — including Bearpark & Esh and Ferryhill.

Ambitious band

He told 4BR: "I'm really looking forward to working with such an accomplished and ambitious band and I'm delighted to have been given the opportunity to build on the excellent work of John Bell.

It's exciting to be preparing for the upcoming Area contest and the prospect of putting in a first class performance on the day."

Passion

Changes have also been made with several key positions filled, with Andrew Turnbull, a member of the band's leadership team adding: "We are delighted to have managed to secure Andrew as our new MD.

We feel his passion, knowledge and enthusiasm will allow us to continue to build on our previous successes. We would also like to thank John Bell for his time and commitment in conducting and his continued support in moving the band forward."
