She told 4BR: "As somebody who never usually wins anything, you can imagine my delight on hearing this news. I'm thrilled, especially as it comes with the opportunity to meet the band.

I'm really looking forward to the concert as my son is also playing for the first time with the National Youth Band of Scotland, so it's going to be a memorable night for all the family."

Great evening

SBBA President Carrie Boax was also delighted by the response to the competition and to the interest in what promises to be a great evening of musical entertainment.

"My thanks go to everyone who entered and we look forward to seeing as many people as possible at the concert itself.

It's going to be a fantastic night of celebration and wonderful music making — headed by two quite brilliant bands. This is an event not to miss."
