How would you like to enjoy teaching brass in Western Australia?

What isn't to like about days at the beach, cold tinnies and prawns on the BBQ after a day teaching at excellent schools?

Perth
What isn't there to like about Perth in Western Australia?

The Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) in Perth, Western Australia, is looking for a number of brass teachers over the next couple of years.

Brass Coordinator Peter Younghusband, who in a former life occupied the bass trombone chair at Leyland, told 4BR that it's an opportunity to grab with both hands.

"The IMSS is part of the Education Department and supplies all government schools in Western Australia with instrumental teachers.

It's similar to peripatetic teaching in England, linking up with a number of schools and possibly directing school bands (Concert, Jazz etc).

However, there are those great additional benefits as well as a good annual salary and long service leave provision.

It's important to note though that lessons begin in Year 5 in groups of five for 30 minutes and continue into High School."

Interested?

If you are interested, Peter told 4BR that the Western Australian Education Department can only employee people who already have the appropriate visa to work in Australia.

No help is provided with sponsorship or migration. As such, if you are interested in applying for any positions that arise, you would need to look first into necessary visa requirements and be a fully qualified teacher (PGCE).

Perth has a lively music scene including several brass bands. The Australian National Band Championships were held in Perth in 2013 and will be back in Perth over Easter 2020.
