Judges to offer insight into Spring Festival tests

An initiative led by the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators and Hammonds Band will give budding judges and brass band lovers a chance to find out more about the trio of set works at this year's Spring Festival.

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators will work in collaboration with Hammonds Band to hold a British Open Spring Festival 'Test-piece Showcase' on Saturday 5th May.

The open event (£5.00 per ticket) will be held at the Moldgreen United Reformed Church, Old Wakefield Rd, Moldgreen, Huddersfield (HD5 8AA) starting at 7.00pm.

Three classics

The evening will offer the opportunity to enjoy an insight into three classics of the brass band repertoire performed by a trio of bands.

Hammonds will perform Peter Graham's 'Triumph of Time'; Yorkshire Imperial Urquhart Travel will present 'Diadem of Gold', whilst Shepherd Group Band will showcase Eric Ball's 'A Kensington Concerto'.

Adjudicators for the event will be AoBBA members David Hirst, Roger Webster and Dave Ashworth, who will provide valuable feedback to both bands and audience on the night4BR

The experienced trio will be joined by a cohort of youngsters who will be given the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the adjudication process.

Tickets are available on the door, with refreshments available between each performance. There are still places left for interested young adjudicators to participate.
