One of the many bands that will be making their way to the famous villages of Saddleworth and Tameside this Friday for the Whit Friday march contests will be Wardle Academy Youth Band — recently crowned Development Section European Youth Champions.

Offspring

Since its formation in 1977 it's believed that well over 6,000 pupils have enjoyed playing in its various brass band ensemble — with many of today's players the offspring of former players themselves!

Photographer Lorne Campbell was asked to take some images to be sent to national newspapers — with this one, showing 12 year old Eve Dorrington conducting music teachers in the grounds of the school one that is sure to catch the eyes of editorsâ€¦
