The Enderby Band has announced the appointment of Ryan Richards as its new Musical Director.

Currently studying trombone at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and playing solo trombone with Tredegar Band, the 21 year old has already gained a critically acclaimed reputation as a performer and emerging conductor.

Delighted

He told 4BR: "I'm delighted to accept the role with such a forward looking band. There is a real sense of innovation and progressive music making here that appeal to me, and the band's experience and quality is obvious.

The appointment fits in neatly with my other commitments and with a number of exciting projects and the National First Section Finals in Cheltenham on the horizon there is plenty to look forward to together."

Tremendous impression

Meanwhile, Band Chairman, Ian Hayto added: "Ryan made a tremendous impression with us over the last couple of weeks with his rehearsal and concert preparation.

This, along with his positive and enthusiastic approach has enabled him to get the best out of the players in a short space of time."

He added: "We're all looking forward to working with Ryan, particularly over the summer months in preparation for our trip to Cheltenham."
