There will be no more Garlick topping at Prospect Brass Skelmanthorpe

4BR has been informed that Phil Garlick has stepped down as Musical Director from Prospect Brass — Skelmanthorpe after over a decade at the helm.

Consistent

Phil first conducted the band in 2006 and went on to lead the Yorkshire ensemble from the Fourth Section to the First — securing a trio of National Final appearances along the way, as well as becoming recognised as one of the most consistent contesting outfits in the region.

In 2013 they came runner-up at the Third Section National Final, was placed second at the Butlins Mineworkers Second Section Championship in 2017 and gained promotion to the First Section in 2018.

I've really enjoyed my 10 years and more at Prospect Brass and in taking them through the sections, but I now feel it is time to retire and focus on family lifePhil Garlick

Really enjoyed

Phil told 4BR: "I've really enjoyed my 10 years and more at Prospect Brass and in taking them through the sections, but I now feel it is time to retire and focus on family life.

Prospect Brass will always be in my heart and I wish the band all the best for the future."

A band spokesperson added: "We are sad to see Phil leave after such a successful time and will forever be grateful for what he has achieved with us. We wish him all the happiness in his retirement."
