Wakefield Metropolitan Band has announced that Peter Kench has become its new Musical Director.

It follows a long and comprehensive search for what the Yorkshire band called 'the ideal candidate', with the University of Hull Music and English graduate meeting the criteria perfectly.

Exciting partnership

A spokesperson told 4BR:"Peter was the MD of the Wind Band and Orchestra during his studies and as a player he was a founder member of the University Brass Band. More recently he has played with Yorkshire Imperial David Urquart Band.

We are delighted that he has accepted the role of Musical Director and we look forward to a successful and exciting partnership together."
