Rockingham celebrates good fortune

Despite missing out on a trip to Cheltenham, the Adam Whittle and the Rockingham Band knows that it has a great future to look forward to.

Adam Whittle has led the rejuvenation of Rockingham Band

The Rockingham Band may have just missed out on qualifying for the National Finals at the recent Third Section Yorkshire Regional Championships, but any sense of disappointment has been temporary.

In 2015 the band was on its knees with just eight players around the stands.

However, the appointment of Adam Whittle (above) as Musical Director sparked a rejuvenation process — one that saw them quickly promoted to the Third Section.

And with their Area results of 2018 and 2019 the band has now gained another step on their long term plans with promotion to the Second Section.

Fortunate

As Adam told 4BR: "It may sound odd, but we all realise just how fortunate we are as a band after what we've gone through together in the last few years.

We have a great friendships and team ethic, so although we missed out on Cheltenham the thought of being promoted to the Second Section where we lasted competed over a decade ago has given us an even greater boost."

Congratulations

He added: "We extend our congratulations to Kippax and Wetherby and wish them well at Cheltenham, but we now look forward to 2020 and beyond."
