Whiston ready for festival atmosphere

The Whiston Festival of Brass will be held this weekend.

Whiston
The Whiston Festival of Brass takes place this weekend

The final preparations are being put in place for this year's Whiston Festival of Brass which takes place on Saturday 6th July 2019 (noon — 8.00pm)

Cracking location

Nine bands will perform their 25 minute entertainment programmes at the Newham School venue (East Bawtry Rd. Whiston. S60 3LX) — a cracking new location with its Grade 2 listed Art Deco buildings as well as excellent facilities for the bands.

Listeners can bring along a blanket or rug (or even a throw up tent) and sunshades to help give it the day a 'Brasstonbury' flavour. Disability access is also very good.

Each band will get a £100 fee just for competing in addition to any other prizes that they win, whilst the school will host a multitude of family attractions including children's rides and fun fair, craft and village style fete stalls, ice cream vans, and a wide selection of food & drink.

Proud

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Everyone at Newman School cannot wait for Brasstonbury 2019! We are extremely proud to have the opportunity to host such a fantastic event and look forward to welcoming our local community and of course the competitors."
