Farr and Turnbull receive awards at British Open

Ray Farr and Brad Turnbull received the Iles Medal and Mortimer Medal at the recent British Open Championship in Birmingham.

It was not only Cory who received worldwide plaudits at Symphony Hall in Birmingham on the weekend as the respected musicians Ray Farr and Brad Turnbull were warmly congratulated on being the recipients of the 2019 Iles and Mortimer Medals respectively.

The awards were presented by Michael Lewin, the Master of the Worshipful Company of Musicians.

Mortimer Medal

The Mortimer Medal in recognition for services fostering new generations of brass band musicians was presented to Brad, whose work with the Northamptonshire County Music Service has resulted in literally thousands of youngsters in all different genres enjoy their first and lasting experiences of music making.

Iles Medal

The Iles Medal, first established in 1947, was presented to Ray — whose wide ranging music career has gained him worldwide respect.
