4BR has been informed that the musical partnership between Musical Director Simon Oates and Blidworth Welfare Band has come to an end.

Hard working

Speaking about the decision, Simon told 4BR: "Promotion at work has meant that is has become increasingly difficult meet the demands that a hard working and committed band such as Blidworth requires to prosper further.

The last two years have been fantastic and I wish them all the best going forward. Whoever takes over will be head a fine band full of committed players with the right progressive working attitude.

I hope to keep involved in banding on a freelance basis to keep a balance between work and music making."

During his two years at the helm Blidworth claimed top-six finishes at the Midlands Championship Section Regional Championship as well as podium finishes at the Shirebrook Entertainment contest.
