New signings at GUS

Two signings join the ranks at GUS Band.

Signings
The two new signings have taken up their places with the Midlands band.

After a highly encouraging performance at the National Finals in London, the GUS Band has announced the signings of Rob Fleming and Kieren Williams.

New signings

Rob joins on second horn following successful spells with Northop Silver and Foden's. He studied music at Huddersfield and Liverpool Universities and now works for Northamptonshire Music & Performing Arts Trust where he is a conductor with the County Junior Brass Ensemble, Sponne School Brass Band and be the Head of Towcester Saturday Morning music school.

Meanwhile, Kieren studied at the University of Nottingham, and whilst there conducted the University of Nottingham Brass Band for two years, leading them to third place at the 2016 UniBrass Championship.

In 2019, he returned to the East Midlands and to work and play with Thoresby Colliery Band and joins following the departure of Milly Deering to focus on her A-level studies.

Thanks and welcome

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "The GUS Band would like to thank Milly for the talent and dedication she brought to the band during her tenure and wish her all the best with her future studies, and welcome two exciting and experienced talented players to the ranks."
