Brighouse & Rastrick has announced the return of trombone player Ellena Newton to take on the role as solo trombone.

The RNCM student also moves up from the second trombone spot where she played for the past four years before her maternity break, and takes over from her fiancÃ© Ryan Watkins as he now focuses on his emerging conducting and teaching career.

Delighted

Ellena told 4BR: "I'm absolutely delighted to be returning to the band on solo trombone. It's a privilege to be taking this next step and I'm excited for what the future holds."

In response a band spokesperson told 4BR: "This is great news for the band as we look forward to a busy 2020 season.
