BBE welcomes a new addition to their team

Brass Bands England (BBE) has announced the appointment of Marie Bedford as its new Treasurer and member of its Board of Trustees.

Experience

Marie has extensive financial experience and qualified as an accountant in 2000. She has since worked on a wide range of financial projects and accounts, especially on business systems, processes and problem-solving.

An active brass band she recently returned to playing having stopped playing for 22 years before 'catching the bug' after seeing a band playing whilst on holiday. She has been playing for Emley Band since 2015.

Marie is taking over the reins from Nigel Morgan, who has served as BBE's Treasurer for many years and is now retiring from the role. He will however continue as a valued Trustee and Board member.

Marie's expertise and experience in the financial industry, combined with her passion for brass bands make her the ideal person for this vital roleBBE Chairman, Mike Kilroy

Gratitude

BBE Chairman, Mike Kilroy told 4BR: "The BBE Board and staff would like to extend our gratitude to Nigel for his outstanding service to BBE in his role as Treasurer.

We are especially pleased that he will continue to support BBE and look forward to welcoming him to our meetings and events for many years to come."

Mike added: "Marie's expertise and experience in the financial industry, combined with her passion for brass bands make her the ideal person for this vital role.

We're delighted to welcome her on board at what promises to be a very exciting time for both BBE and the banding movement."
