Bandstand campaign continues in Todmorden

The campaign to renovate a Grade 2 listed bandstand in West Yorkshire gains further media support.

Bandstand
The bandstand has been given Grade 2 listed status to help with its protection

Hebden Band players Ian Coleman and his son Harry, play their tubas in front of the Grade 2 listed bandstand in Centre Vale Park in Todmorden, West Yorkshire.

The bandstand, built in 1914, was given the status by Historic England in December last year after it faced potential demolition as it had been out of community use for over a decade.

Campaigners

However, local campaigners have been working hard towards saving it and make a case for it to be eligible as a Community Asset Transfer. It is believed to be one of only six bandstands built in England in the 'shell type' style and the last one now remaining.

Ian and Harry play for nearby Hebden Bridge Band, with Ian having played with them for 45 years.
