BBE announces Welsh initiatives

Brass Bands England is in Swansea this weekend to showcase the training and safeguarding initiatives they have to offer to Welsh banding.

Bandsafe
The Bandsafe training will take place in three venues

Brass Bands England (BBE) has made a welcome visit to the Welsh Regional Championships in Swansea this weekend to introduce themselves to the banding movement.

They have made the visit to the event to explain how the organisation can benefit Welsh bands at all levels through their Body of Persons Approval (BOPA), as well as their Bandsafe Training programmes.

Training dates

Three new training dates have been announced in bandrooms from 21st-23rd April, covering north, mid and south Wales.

To book on the training band should visit www.bbe.org.uk/events.

Say hello

BBE Partnership & Relationship Development Manager Alex Parker will be at the Great Hall at Swansea University today to answer any questions and offer advice to bands wishing to find out more about these important aspects.

The BBE BOPA allows bands to cover their events for Child Performance Licensing with a significant administration-saving application process.

Alex told 4BR: "It's great that, after applying for a Welsh BOPA to support our English members as well as our existing 15 Welsh member bands, our services can now be used by all Welsh Bands.

With BBE membership costing just over 1p per day per band member, we have great benefits to help members, such as as savings on insurance, discounts on making their PRS returns and access to our development events."

Work together

He added: "It's exciting to be able work with and support even more bands, so to help bands find out what is available we thought it would be good to go to Wales to be able to answer any questions directly."
