BTM hosts safeguarding training

The newly crowned Welsh First Section champion recently hosted a well attended safeguarding training day.

The BTM Band hosted the training day

Following their recent success in winning the Welsh First Section Area title in Swansea, the BTM Band welcomed delegates from 11 South East Wales Brass Band Association (SEWBBA) bands for an intensive day of Safeguarding Training.

It was delivered by Vaughan Training & Consultancy Ltd which specialises in the area, and which gained positive feedback by those that took part.

Legislation

The training (which was held before the Coronavirus pandemic restrictions) was subsidised by the SEWBBA to enable one representative from each member band to attend, although many paid for an extra person to take part.

The training encompassed current legislation impacting on safeguarding policies, safeguarding awareness and child protection issues.

Excellent day

A BTM spokesperson told 4BR: "It was an excellent day of training in such important areas for all brass band organisations. Our thanks go to those who attended and to leadership of Martin Vaughan and Jeff Hutcherson."
