The long list of brass band contest events to be cancelled due to the ongoing effects of the Coronavirus pandemic has been added to with the cancellation of the popular annual Gloucestershire Brass Band Association Contest.

Decision

Spokesperson Kevin Ford told 4BR: "The GBBA Committee held out as long as possible before making the only sensible and thoughtful decision. I suspect we will be lucky to see any contest in 2020.

It is a shame as we were hoping that this year's large increase in prize money would encourage more bands to enter this friendly, local contest.

We also had agreement from Wright & Round that they would give special music voucher awards to the Training/Youth band section. We will return but it will now be in 2021."
