Brass Band VielKLANG! has already made its debut cocnert appearance

The Blasmusikverein Carl Zeiss Jena e.V. organisation has announced a further addition to their stable of musical ensembles.

The umbrella body which already includes Brass Band BlechKLANG, the Jugend Brass Band BlechKLANG and the orchestra school KLANGwelt, has been enhanced by the formation of Brass Band VielKLANG!

Concert entertainment

Under the direction of South African conductor and composer Andrea Hobson, the ensemble has set itself the goal of providing an outlet for the exploration of brass band concert entertainment.

Speaking about the new ensemble, Thomas Rothhardt told 4BR: "This is a new band to provide an outlet for players who wish to perform in concerts and explore concert repertoire instead of contest works and test-pieces.

Brass Band VielKLANG will look towards concert opportunities and performances such as the Jena Spring Market or Old Town Festival and build a calendar of future events."

Light and inclusive

MD Andrea Hobson added: "I'm looking forward to making Brass Band VielKLANG known throughout Thuringia — as a high quality provider of light, inclusive music making.

Our goal is to present popular hits of all genres with an original brass band sound. It's an exciting new adventure for us all."

Different opportunity

That was further explained by player Katrin Weber adds: "It is our aim to strengthen our links to our communities and offer a different opportunity for them to enjoy what we can offer as an organisation as a whole.

From students to pensioners, everyone will find a place in the band to enjoy music making and making friends."

The new band has already made its debut appearance with an open-air concert in the town square in Jena which proved very popular.
