The East Anglian Brass Band Association recently held its 'Brass to the Fore' training day at t Hellesdon High School, Norwich.

50 delegates had enrolled for the course led by Leyland Band MD, Thomas Wyss and players Iain Culross, Sacheus Pritchard, Ryan Broad, Rebecca Doyle, Daniel Hohm and Chris Doran.

Delegates were delighted to accompany Chris in the solo 'The Sun Has Got His Hat On', whilst other music explored included two pieces by local composer and euphonium player Joseph Knight, entitled, 'A Norfolk Fanfare' and 'Swing Low Sweet Charity', as well as concert favourites 'Star Lake', 'Prismatic Light' and 'Abba Gold'.

'Brass to the Fore' is supported by Norwich Freemen's Charity, Geoffrey Watling Charity, Norfolk County Council, New Moon Insurance Services and Take Note Music Company and aims to support and encourage young brass musicians, bands and local audiences.

The next event will be an online Christmas Concert on the Association's YouTube Channel with videos from bands performing their favourite piece of Christmas music, whilst Foden's Band will visit in May 2023.

Association Secretary Christine Wade told 4BR: "We are extremely grateful for the support we have had for 'Brass to the Fore'. The Brass Training Day was an excellent start to the project and we are looking forward to the other events in the future."
