Band Supplies thanks for 40 years of support

Band Supplies continues to support the brass band movement in Perth this weekend — but they believe it's a two-way relationship that has worked so well

The Band Supplies Scottish Challenge Contest takes place at Perth Concert Hall this weekend (Saturday 12th November), the first part of Scottish Brass Band Association's 2022 Festival of Brass at Perth Concert Hall.

The contest will see 20 First, Second, Third and Fourth Sections perform their own-choice test-piece selections to try and catch favour with adjudicators Sandy Smith and Alan Fernie.

The event has become an integral part of the Scottish banding calendar and one that Band Supplies has told 4BR that they take particular pride in supporting.

Wonderful event

"This is a wonderful event — one that reflects the importance of grass roots banding in Scotland,"Ann Tennant told 4BR.

Ann and husband Ronnie are the well-known faces of sponsors Band Supplies, the company they set up over 40 years ago and which continues to support Scottish and UK banding at all levels.

"Brass bands are at the heart of the company,"Ann added. "That will never change and is so important to us. It's also why we are delighted to give something back for all the support we have been given over those 40 years and more.

The Scottish Brass Band Association does a wonderful job in promoting and developing the banding movement and this offers us the opportunity to help with their ambition."

The people

Ann added: "It's the people in the brass band movement though that makes it such a great community to be part of and this event offers such a welcoming atmosphere. It's meeting up with old friends and meeting new people.

The team at Band Supplies with Chris Tudball in Leeds and with Ronnie, Raymond and the family here in Glasgow just want to say thank you in return by being involved in this way."

Friends

Ann concluded: "Please come along and say hello and have a chat with us. We are here to help of course, but also to enjoy the company of friends and to see how we can help. We hope everyone has a wonderful day at Perth and we wish everyone all the very best for what is a great contest day.

We have Euan Meikle of Besson on hand throughout the day and plenty of great deals on offer too — but more importantly than that, we just want to say thank you in return for supporting us over the last 40 years."
