New principal lead at City of Bradford

Talented student Adam Scaife has become the new principal cornet of City of Bradford Band.

Bradford
Adam Scaife will make his debut as principal cornet at the forthcoming Scottish Open

The City of Bradford Band has confirmed the appointment of Adam Scaife as their new principal cornet

The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) under graduate is currently studying for a bachelor's degree of performance in trumpet and cornet and also performs as a member of the RBC Brass Band as well as taking part in its jazz orchestra and the folk ensemble.

Welcome

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "We welcome Adam to the band at what is a really exciting time in our development with key wins at the British Open Senior Cup and Wychavon Championship. With him leading the cornet section we hope to move further up the contest rankings."

In response, Adam said: "I knew pretty much straight away when I heard the band that this was something I really wanted to do. They have an amazing sound and the key seats are filled with hugely talented players.

I am keen to keep learning and take my performances to the next level with the rest of the band".

Grow with us

MD Jonathan Bates added: "We knew Adam had talent and the band exchanged some knowing glances when they heard him in rehearsal. He's still young, but he can grow with us and we will support him to be the best performer and leader he can be.

It's a joy to hear him play and we are seeing him grow in confidence every time he sits in the hot seat."

Debut

Adam will make his contest debut with the band at the Scottish Open in Perth on 26th November.
