New Creative and Artistic lead at Brighouse

Brighouse & Rastrick has announced a new 'Creative and Artistic Team', aimed at further enhancing their musical direction and community engagement.

It will be led by Professional Conductor, Prof David King, who will be joined by Dr David Thornton as Musical Director in Residence, and Ian McElligott in the role of Arranger in Residence and Musical Consultant.

Prof King recently celebrated his 15th year with the West Riding organisation, with the announcement stating that they were, "excited to extend the band's most successful period under his leadership."

Dr David Thornton's role is described as, "an invaluable addition to the team" and will see him focus on "developing repertoire and mentoring the musicians, ensuring that they continue to grow and excel in their craft."

They stated, Ian McElligott's "proven track record of innovative arrangements, ground-breaking conceptual ideas, and a deep understanding of brass band music" will see him, "contribute significantly to the band's artistic direction"in "crafting unique performances that resonate with a diverse audience."

Creative synergy

The release added: "Brighouse & Rastrick is looking forward to the creative synergy that this new team will bring, promising an exciting future for both the band and its supporters.

Fans can expect to see the fruits of this collaboration in upcoming concerts and events, showcasing the talents and vision of this impressive trio."
