A new band "run by members for members" with the aim, "to build a band where people enjoy attending, and come together to make music" is being set up in Tean in Stoke on Trent in the West Midlands.
Moorlands Brass
Moorlands Brass is being pioneered by Angie Owen, who was looking for a new type of inclusive, welcoming banding with an ethos that was shared by all its members.
With the support Glyn Ward and well known conductor David Ashworth, that is now becoming a reality with the first rehearsal pencilled for 3rd June.
Shared values
Speaking to 4BR Angie said: "I and others felt we wanted to be part of a band that had shared values, aims and objectives. We want to build something of lasting value on shared principles.
It isn't a pipedream, but a new, modern band — open and transparent, encouraging and inclusive. We want people to have their say and share opinions to help things for the long-term betterment of everyone involved — from starting a training band to ensuring everyone feels they have a part to play."
Time and place
Angie stated that the first rehearsal will be held on Tuesday 3rd June at 7.30pm until 9.30pm at the White Hart on the High Street in Tean (ST10 4DX).
She added: "If you wish to come along and just find out more please do. Everyone will be made to feel welcome."
