Uppermill Band is celebrating its most successful Saddleworth Whit Friday contest return on record after posting an impressive haul of eight prize winning performance. The Second Section band came 14th overall.
Consistent
Led by MD James Garlick, they delivered consistent performances of William German's 'The President' that gained 'Best Second Section Band' prizes at Delph, Uppermill, Greenfield, Scouthead and Diggle topped by a 'Best Trombones' accolade at Diggle and second place in the 'Local Band' and 'Saddleworth Band' at Scouthead.
He praised the dedication and commitment of the players telling 4BR that it was, "a brilliant achievement to be placed in and amongst the championship bands."
Hard work
He added: "The band worked hard in the lead-up to Whit Friday, and I'm delighted with what we achieved. These results are a testament to their focus, and it's brilliant to see that hard work rewarded."
With morale high the band are now looking forward to performing two sold out performances of 'Wallace and Gromit' on June 28th.
