Tredegar Band has welcomed the signing of solo baritone Carole Ednie.
The former cooperation band player is moving to Wales to further her teaching career and joins in time to play with the Welsh champion at the British Open Championships in Birmingham.
Outstanding performer
The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduate has been an outstanding performer with the co-operation band for the last eight years and is a former member of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland.
Speaking about her move she said: "I have just finished teaching in Scotland and have enjoyed every minute of it with wonderful pupils for the past three years, but come September I will be taking on my next teaching adventure in Wales.
It is also hard to put into words what it has meant to be part of the co-operation band for the pat eight years. It has been more than music making — they've been like family. I can't thank them all enough.
I'm sad to be leaving but excited for what's ahead in Wales with Tredegar."
Huge boost
In welcoming Carole, Tredegar MD Ian Porthouse said: "This has been such fantastic news for us and a huge boost ahead of a very busy period for the band with the major championships in Birmingham and London, plus our recording with the National Orchestra of Wales.
Carole is a wonderful player and everyone has been thrilled to welcome her to her new musical home with us at Tredegar."
